We're excited to work together. We've put together this onboarding package to make your life easy, and so we can get your project off the ground as seamlessly as possible.

First, Gather All Of Your Materials:

Data to Import

We will help you to import your existing supporter/membership data.

To prepare for this, please export your data into Excel (.xls) or Comma Separated (.csv) files. Ensure that your data is separated into separate files as follows:

  • General People/Email List Data (i.e. from Mailchimp)
  • Membership Data
  • Financial Data (i.e. historic donations)
  • Voters' List

Written Content

Please organize your content in a hierarchical fashion in a single Google doc. Please include all headers for pages and subpages, as well as the structure of your navigation.

Written content includes:

  • Main written content
  • SEO excerpts (what you want to show up when folks post your URL to social media.
  • Twitter shares (what you want to show up in a pre-written Tweet).

Please note that if you have an existing website, we are able to copy over content directly. We will transfer over all your existing blog posts and news updates to your new website.

Photos/Graphics

Think of a few websites that you absolutely love and that inspire you. Chances are they have a lot of impactful photography and imagery throughout the website.

Please provide high-quality images that you would want to use throughout the site. Please indicate if there are specific images you'd like on specific pages.

If you prefer to use graphics instead of photos on some of your pages, we strongly recommend that they do not include any text. We highly recommend adding the text as the headline text which overlays on top of the image and will resize appropriately based on the device being used to access your website.

Size Quick Reference

Home page hero image(s) should be 16:9 ratio or 3200px by 1800px

Image blocks (ie. team page photos) should either be square OR 16:10 ratio or 640px by 400px

Photo gallery images should be 4:3 ratio or 800px by 600px

Branding

Have a Brand Guide?

If you have a brand guide, great, please submit that. If you don't, please submit the colours and fonts you have. 

Don't have a brand guide but have the elements of one?

Colours

  • Provide HEX colour codes; not RGB or Pantones.
  • Ensure your colours, when used in combinations with each other, have sufficient contrast for legibility and accessibility purposes.

Fonts

  • Ensure the fonts selected have at least 3 weights (ie. Regular, Bold, Black) to ensure that your website can have content headings that are clearly distinguishable from the regular content.

Need help creating a brand?

Do-It-Yourself (DIY) Tools

  • Google Fonts is a great resource of thousands of fonts that are web-friendly.
  • Coolors is a great resource to explore different colour combinations and also has a colour contrast checker.

We can also help you create a brand guide at an additional cost.

Accessibility Standards

At Progressive Nation, we pride ourselves on ensuring all of our website themes adhere to internationally recognized accessibility standards. From the fonts to the colour combinations, to the functionality.

Logos

Your logo is used in several places throughout your website. The most common places are:

  • Top Navigation
  • Footer
  • Favicon

If possible, please provide us with an .svg file. We can then generate all of the necessary logos including both light mode and dark mode versions.

At minimum, please provide us with .png file (both full colour and white) that is less than 10mb in size and has a transparent background.

Website Design

We take all of the brand assets and content that you have provided and build out your custom theme and website.

First Pass Feedback

When your website is ready for your First Pass review, we will email you with a link to be able to provide feedback on the layouts and theme elements by commenting directly on your website.

Revisions

We take all of your feedback and make the necessary changes. We will provide a final Second Pass feedback opportunity, if any, before launching your brand new website.

Launch

We help you make the necessary changes to your domain name servers to point them to NationBuilder and launch your website publically.

Once Your Site Has Been Launched:

Quarterly Check-in's

Your Account Manager will reach out to you to schedule a quarterly check-in. These provide us with an opportunity to learn about what is working, what could be improved, do a quick nation health check, and highlight any new theme features or tools that we've introduced.

This is also a great opportunity for you to get strategic support for your goals or campaigns.

Access to Theme How-Tos &
Online Learning Academy

As new staff, volunteers, or interns join your team, they will have access to our online training resources and theme documentation that will get them up to speed and learn how to use site features and functions.

Billing & Payments

Predictable Billing

Invoices are generated on the first day of each month (or quarter).

*While our invoices provide a 30-day window, we ask that you please make your payments as promptly as possible. After 2-months of outstanding invoices, your control panel and website will be locked by NationBuilder until payment is made.

Flexible Payment Options

We have flexible payment options including Credit Card, Interac e-Transfer, or Cheque (only for quarterly payments). Unfortunately, we do not accept direct deposit unless you are on Enterprise and due to the nature of NationBuilder's pay-as-you-grow, we do not have an annual billing option.

Ongoing Support

We take pride in providing all of our clients with ongoing support. Your team will have access to a dedicated Slack Channel for quick and reliable support. We are also committed to fixing any bugs or helping you resolve other critical issues with your website promptly.
